Swan Valley is home to the South Fork of the Snake River. This is native Yellowstone Cutthroat country and is probably the best dry fly cutthroat destination in the country. The South Fork is a tailwater fishery that starts beneath Palisades Dam. Being a tailwater fishery the river remains clear and fishable year round. High water is from late June through early August. The river and its surroundings are spectacular and you are likely to see ospreys, bald eagles and moose. This is a big river and is best fished utilizing a drift-wade technique. While in the area you should visit Driggs, Idaho and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Each area has plenty to see, the towns are wonderful and the fishing is very good on the Teton and Snake Rivers.
